1130 Park Avenue #9-1
George F. Pelham designed this red-brick co-op in 1927, one of a run of Park Avenue houses he built along Carnegie Hill, near his 1120, 1100, and 944 Park. Inside #9-1, a 21-foot center gallery opens onto rooms with high beamed ceilings and herringbone floors, and a wood-burning fireplace sits beneath a carved Carrara marble mantel. The windows look across to the Brick Presbyterian Church, the neo-Georgian landmark Lewis Ayres of York & Sawyer completed in 1940 at Park and 91st.
Three bedrooms and three and a half baths, in a 16-story house that went co-op in 1951 and has held its prewar bearing ever since.
