Ocean Road runs due south from the Bridgehampton monument to the Atlantic, and before it reaches the beach it passes Sam's Creek, one of the tributaries the Town of Southampton counts in the Mecox Bay watershed, the shallow bay behind the barrier beach that trades water with the ocean through a cut the town opens across the sand.
