215 Chrystie Street #28E
The tower was conceived by Ian Schrager, with architecture by the Pritzker Prize-winning firm Herzog & de Meuron and interiors by John Pawson. Completed in 2016, it sets eleven condominium residences atop the PUBLIC hotel, the third Schrager and Herzog & de Meuron collaboration in the city after 40 Bond. The structure is pushed to the perimeter, an exoskeleton that liberates each floor from interior columns and braids the inclined framing into a single sculptural corner. Floor-to-ceiling glass with mullionless corners looks out over Sara D. Roosevelt Park, and Pawson's restraint carries through in white oak floors and pared-back stone detailing.
