228 Town Lane

North of the highway, Amagansett loosens into open farmland, and Town Lane runs through the working middle of it, past the fields Balsam Farms still plants and the paddocks at Stony Hill Stables. Stony Hill, the wooded rise just east, served the seventeenth-century settlement as common pasture, its meadow divided by low stone walls and grazed in rotation, and the lane has kept its agricultural bearing ever since.

At 228, the openness reverses. An evergreen screen closes around 1.36 gated acres of lawn, established gardens and specimen trees, with a one-story 1973 contemporary at the center. A 2014 renovation reworked the house into a summer home: four bedrooms and four baths in 2,657 square feet on a single level, walls of glass opening the principal rooms onto marble patios, and a heated 50-foot gunite pool with a separate spa holding the middle of the lawn. A two-car garage stands apart. The ocean beaches are a few minutes south.

One rental period is offered: August 2026, at $100,000 for the month. The season is already underway; inquiries go through the listing.
