What the roll says
The Town of Clinton's 2026 final assessment roll carries parcel 6266-00-871600 as one family residence, 5.87 acres, Hyde Park school district, West Clinton fire. The 2024 roll carried the same parcel at 2.90 acres. The second half of the land arrived between the two, on a deed recorded in 2024. That double identity is older than any of it: Hyde Park was part of the Town of Clinton until 1821, and when it was set off as its own town this ground stayed behind, which is why the house answers to a Hyde Park address and a Clinton assessment. The house is older still. Clinton itself was organised in 1788 out of the Charlotte and Rhinebeck precincts and named for Governor George Clinton; the farmhouse was standing by about 1780. William Benson's survey of Clinton lots up to about 1800 puts the last farms on both sides of the Fallkill road, west of Rymph, with James Cock and then Nehemiah Hoag, seventy three acres, with Isaac Frost's land above them. Three bedrooms, two baths, and a barn that sits where the road put it.
