287 Old Stone Highway
$10,000 per month, May and June 2027The tax roll dates the cottage to 1950, a good year on this road. That late summer, Le Corbusier spent a long weekend down Old Stone Highway at Costantino Nivola's farmhouse, painting two murals in whatever water-soluble paints he could find in the sculptor's studio. Springs was five years into its artist era by then, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner having taken their farmhouse above Accabonac Creek in 1945, and the harbor's preservation record opened in 1968, when Frederic and Muriel Lake gave The Nature Conservancy the saltmarsh that became Merrill Lake Sanctuary.

The cottage itself is the modest entry in the file: 900 square feet, whitewashed, two bedrooms and one bath on 0.39 harborfront acres with reserve behind, the harbor in the windows. It last traded in early 2020. The marsh across the water is cordgrass, oak hummocks, and nesting osprey, held so it stays that way.

Offered as a short-term rental for two terms: May 2027 at $10,000 for the month, and June 2027 at $10,000 for the month. Terms as published on the listing.
