The Story
Stonybrook Road runs through Old Hill, the oldest of Westport's residential neighbourhoods, and number 31 has stood on it since 1936. It is stone at the base and shingle above, on just under an acre, and what the house is really organised around is water: a heated saltwater pool and spa by the house, a pond with a fountain below it, and Stony Brook running past both.
Inside runs to 6,503 square feet, five bedrooms, six full baths and two half. The great room carries exposed timber trusses over a stone fireplace; blackened steel windows and doors open the garden side; the kitchen is walnut with a long island and a bar behind it. Under the roof there is a studio, a gym and a room given over to table tennis.
The Grounds
Terraces step down from the house to the pool and spa, the pond sits below them with a fountain in it, and Stony Brook runs on past both, carrying herons, owls and otters. There is deeded access to nearby Nash's Pond for kayaking and fishing, and mature trees close the property on every side.
