5021 Bluff Place

The San Diego County assessor records the year as 1974 and the parcel as 498-011-07-00, a shade over an acre at the closed end of Bluff Place in Horizon Hills Estates. Modern San Diego, the archive kept by the agent who is selling it, dates construction to 1973 and 1974 and credits Colin J. Lunt, a designer and builder who graduated from Grossmont High School in 1961 and whose father, Henry Lunt, put up houses on La Cuesta and Grandview from 1963 to 1985. A Lunt house on Shadow Knolls Drive ran in San Diego Magazine in October 1971; he built his own on the same street the year this one was finished. Four bedrooms, three baths, 2,732 square feet on a split-level plan, two fireplaces, a black-bottom pool cut into the slope. The county still zones the acre A70, Limited Agriculture, which is why the orchard is not a landscaping choice but a permitted use.
