The Story
Shelter Island guards its quiet. Between the two forks and reachable only by ferry, the island has always traded slowly, and almost never in new construction: most of its housing stock predates the war, and its zoning keeps builders honest. A ground-up modern here is an event.
6 Great Circle Drive is that event, finished in 2026 by Juno Homes in one of the island's premier enclaves along Gardiners Bay. Five thousand five hundred square feet, south facing, and composed rather than flashy, it reads as a house designed from the inside out.
The House
Entry lands you in a gallery corridor, floor to ceiling glass running along one side, warm white oak below, a passage that behaves more like an architectural promenade than a hallway. The main rooms rise into wood clad cathedral ceilings: a sculptural kitchen anchored by an oversized island, an entertaining bar as the transition, and a living room built around a wood burning fireplace where walls of glass slide open to the pool terrace.
The five ensuite bedrooms are laid out for long stays. A first floor primary takes its own corner with a freestanding soaking tub, oversized glass shower, and a custom oak double vanity. Three more suites and a great room hold down a separate wing, each room opening directly to the outside. The lower level runs to a media room, wine cellar, guest ensuite, and laundry.
The Grounds
Just under an acre of professionally designed landscape frames the amenity list: a 32 by 16 heated gunite pool with integrated spa, a barrel sauna, cold plunge, outdoor shower, and dining terrace, with an attached two car garage. Gardiners Bay Country Club and the village sit moments away.
