74 Fox Lane

Fox Lane did not exist five years ago. The road was cut for the Fox Hollow subdivision, twelve lots carved from farmland off Cedar Hill Road in the town of Clermont, which the Clermont Planning Board worked through in 2021 with Taconic Engineering handling the road, the culverts, and two wetland crossings. The addresses read Tivoli, and the geography agrees: the village and the Bard College campus sit a few minutes south, with the Rhinecliff Amtrak station just beyond.

The lane found its register early. In 2023 the designer Jenni Kayne built her own Hudson Valley farmhouse at 26 Fox Lane, a single-story house of plaster walls, soapstone, and pea-gravel gardens that ran through Architectural Digest, Vogue, Elle Decor, and Domino. That house set the terms for the road: design-led new construction on open meadow, five acres at a time.

Number 74 was completed in 2026 on 5.3 acres and oriented due south, so the main rooms carry light from morning until evening. The house holds 1,980 square feet, three bedrooms, and two and a half baths on a single efficient plan: wide plank French oak flooring throughout, custom cabinetry, a main living area anchored by a fireplace, and a kitchen that flows into a butler's pantry behind it. A laundry and mudroom with built-ins does the country-house work, and a private dry sauna sits inside the plan rather than out in the yard.

The primary suite occupies its own wing, with a double vanity and an oversized soaking tub placed directly in front of a picture window. The land around the house stays open meadow, with room on the acreage for a pool or a second structure. The quietest detail is the siting itself: on a lane laid out this decade, the house already knows exactly where its sun comes from.
