8 Sea Cove Drive

In October 1963, House Beautiful sent the photographer Maynard Parker to the Palos Verdes peninsula for a feature it titled A House with Restraint. The subject was the Anderson Residence, commissioned by Judge and Jeannie Anderson and completed in 1959 by Aaron G. Green FAIA, Frank Lloyd Wright's West Coast representative from 1951 until Wright died that same year. Green kept a San Francisco office with Wright's name on the door, and after 1959 he and William Wesley Peters carried the Marin County Civic Center to completion. Here he answered to no one: a V-shaped plan in redwood and mahogany, a sunken living room ringed by its original built-in seating, quarried stone fireplaces in the living room and the primary bedroom. Curtis Besinger wrote in that 1963 story that the inside and the outside had been conceived as one continuous area. Eric Lloyd Wright, Frank's grandson, oversaw the 2003 bath and pool work, and the house still holds Besinger's sentence together.
