Brittish Studio Loft

The loft is a thousand square feet on the third floor of a Bushwick walk-up, under twelve feet of pressed tin that the listing calls original. It comes furnished, with a sleeping loft at the top of an open stair and a roof above that looks straight at the Manhattan skyline.

Pressed-tin ceilings of this kind were stamped and hung in Brooklyn's commercial and loft buildings from the 1880s into the 1930s, and this one has been painted white and left in place, with the conduit and the pipe columns running across it in plain view. The brick is painted white too. The floorboards are painted, and worn back to grey where people walk.

The tenant is Brittish Studio, the design and custom furniture practice Britt Hope founded in Brooklyn in February 2022, and the loft is its showroom. The studio moved here from Crown Heights in the spring of 2026 and makes its furniture to order in Brooklyn; its own pieces include a steel and leather lounge chair and a console in concrete and aluminum. The room is divided not by walls but by cream canvas hung in swags from the tin, so a second lounge sits inside a tent of cloth with its own pendant. The furniture is vintage, antique and custom: a pair of black leather LC2 chairs by the window, a black lacquer folding screen with gilt figures, a kitchen table on two stepped stone pedestals, a stool whose legs are chain. The walls around the desk were painted by the artist who had the loft before.

It is offered as a furnished sublet from October 28 to November 30, with a queen in the sleeping loft, a desk and monitor for working, a gas range, a new wall air conditioner, and a bathroom larger than the city usually gives. The Morgan Avenue L is six minutes on foot; Manhattan is twenty minutes on the train.
