Laurel Cottage

This is a private bedroom inside the host's own cottage, not a whole house rental. Queen bed, private bath, a shared porch, a shared kitchen for the breakfast Laurel cooks every morning. It is the smallest, most personal kind of stay we have run: a bed and breakfast in the original sense of the phrase.

Johns Island sits between Kiawah Island's beaches and the Charleston peninsula, close enough to both that neither requires a plan. The cottage itself has the vernacular Lowcountry signature down to the porch ceiling, painted haint blue against insects and, depending who is asked, spirits.
