## The room with the fireplaces
Twelve feet of ceiling is the sort of dimension that does the work for you. The windows are sized to match it, and the light arrives in a quantity that a one bedroom has no ordinary right to.
Two marble fireplaces, carved, sit as the fixed points of the plan. They are original to the house and were kept through a renovation that could easily have taken them out.
## What the renovation actually spent on
The radiators are natural brass, made by Castrads. The windows are mahogany, made by Parrett. Neither is a thing a buyer asks for by name, and both are the reason the rooms feel settled rather than refinished.
It is a four residence building, which is the other quiet luxury here: a co-op small enough that the hallway is effectively yours.
## The block
West Chelsea, tree lined, steps from the High Line. Hauser and Wirth, Dia Chelsea and Gagosian are the neighbours. Empire Diner, Cookshop and Alba are the dinner.
